Rambam & Shulchan Aruch What Happened To Halachic Happiness In Adar?
When it comes to the Halacha of Mima'atim B'Simcha, refraining from happiness in the month of Av, both the Rambam and Shulchan Aruch bring it down L'Halacha.  However the halacha of MiShenichnas Adar Marbim B'Simcha is absent in both these Mikoros.  Why is that?

To answer this question the Nimukei Orach Chaim (see Piskei Tshuvos 686 footnote 17) asks another question. What does increasing our happiness entail exactly?  He answer is that happiness is in our heart and anything we can do to increase our happiness is a kiyum of the mitzva.

Because this Mitzva has no concrete guidelines and depends on the nature of each individual, says the Nimukei Orach Chaim, the Rambam and Shulchan Aruch do not bring it.  They only bring Halachos with concrete manifestations, which include aveilus in Av, but not happiness in Adar.

Important Note: We bring this tshuvah as a starting point for discussion and not to convey any halacha.  We try to convey the Tshuva to the best of our ability. We admit that our understanding may not be accurate. One should learn the tshuva to verify the accuracy of our interpretation.  Please understand that this Tshuva may not be the final word on this topic. One should consult a Rav before drawing any conclusions.
